INTERVIEW: ACHYUTH IYENGAR

Where are you originally from and where else have you lived?

I am from India, and have lived in the US and Singapore

What languages can you speak?

English, Hindi (Indian language), Tamil (Indian language), Kannada (Indian language), Mandarin (beginner)

What is your educational background?

University of Chicago (MBA) University of Wisconsin-Madison (MS-Food Science) National Dairy Research Institute, India (B.Tech)

How long have you been with Cargill, and what did you do prior to joining the company

I have been with Cargill for one year. Prior to joining Cargill I spent five years as a Product Developer for Flavors/Food Ingredients with a leading flavor company in India

Where was your Field Assignment?

My field assignment was with Cargill Coal in a trading/business development role. In addition I did a short valuation project with GOSC-China.

What do you like to do for fun/what are your hobbies?

I like to play lots of tennis, enjoy tasting different foods and restaurants, traveling, and keeping fit.

Who is your role model, and why?

My father - for the positive energy and ethics he has displayed all his life and his coaching skills.

What do you see yourself doing at age 65?

I would like to be teaching at a business school at a university located close to an awesome beach...Teach in the morning - have the rest of the day off!

...created flavors for some of the best consumer brands and traded coal.....tasted all kinds of food in the world to make flavors and been to the interiors of Kalimantan (Indonesia) to look at coal mines.
