INTERVIEW: PRISCILLA MWANGI


What's the meaning behind your name?

I was named for my maternal grandmother.

Where are you originally from and where else have you lived?

I am from Kenya. The only other place I have lived in is Maryland before moving to Minneapolis.

What languages can you speak?

English and two African languages; Swahili and Kikuyu

What is your educational background?

I went to Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya for my undergrad degree in business and University of Maryland for my MBA.

How long have you been with Cargill, and what did you do prior to joining the company?

This is my first year with Cargill. Before then I worked for seven years in brand management for Procter & Gamble, Kodak and Unga Ltd.

Where was your Field Assignment?

In Minneapols working as a sales analyst in the Food Ingredients NA Platform.

What do you like to do for fun/what are your hobbies?

I like to jog, watch movies, and take weekend trips.

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is Colin Powell. He had very few opportunities growing up but he grabbed the ROTC one and pursued all the avenues it opened to him until he became the Secretary of State.

What do you see yourself doing at age 65?

I see myself retiring from a leading a multinational company to a slower life filled with volunteering for charities that are geared towards children and training young entrepreneurs.

Nobody knows I've...

...traveled to most continents. I plan to do Latin America and Australia to round out my world travels.
