Travelogue 2

Another day, another challenge.

At Cargill, we're looking for people who are ready to take on more than a job. We're looking for people to take on the world. As you move through the SBD program, you'll quickly gain responsibility. Whether it's starting up a new venture, coordinating an acquisition or helping to rejuvenate an old line business unit, you'll face the kinds of real world challenges you've been preparing for.

We're looking for people with the insight to create innovative solutions for our customers. Helping farmers facing low commodity prices lock in a profit. Raising living standards in underdeveloped regions by building more efficient distribution channels. Enabling customers for our steel mini-mills to compete more effectively by providing custom-packaged, just-in-time product. The list goes on and on.

Travelogue 2

Studied ability to replicate the Venezuela and Central America food distribution models in Mexico. Concentrated on identifying and analyzing the staple foods categories: consumption patterns, industry structure and dynamics, value chain, channel dynamics, etc. Scouted the Mexican food retail landscape and interacted with different players in the food industry. Also embarked on a journey to uncover other attractive food categories in Mexico that could represent opportunities for Cargill. Took a close look at consumer habits and attitudes through specialized consumer focus groups and quantitative studies.

"This project gave me the opportunity to learn more about the food industry in Mexico. That was great. But the project also advanced my professional development. If you want to be a business builder, you need to be comfortable with ambiguity, and you must be persistent and resilient."
