Substantive areas of expertise include (but certainly are not limited to) the following:

  • Admiralty

  • Employee Benefits

Most legal work — including complex transactions and regulatory work — is handled in-house, although the specialized expertise of outside counsel is used when necessary, primarily for litigation. What our lawyers say ...

“In more than 35 years of employment with Cargill, I have never been bored. This company offers a huge variety of issues and projects. And I get to work with people who really enjoy what they do and believe in it. Cargill has grown significantly during my tenure and that, in itself, has presented wonderful opportunities and challenges.

I have been able to dive in and learn a host of new subject matters, develop a very sophisticated legal practice, and get to know people from all over the world. I’ve been part of so many interesting projects over time that it is difficult to pick the most interesting or the most engaging. That being said, I’d have to put the work I did with respect to the creation of Cargill’s ESOP program, my first international M&A transaction (that included acquisitions of businesses across the globe), and my work on the recent divestiture of Cargill’s majority interest in The Mosaic Company at the top of that list.”
