Your experience as a summer associate
As a summer associate, you will gain first-hand experience into the depth and breadth of Cargill's businesses and the legal issues and challenges facing a lawyer practicing at Cargill.
You will be assigned a supervising lawyer and informal mentor who work with you to ensure that your summer associate experience is positive. Your supervising lawyer will coordinate your work assignments, ensure that you are provided with a good variety of projects, and identify opportunities for you to get to know the law department and Cargill in general throughout your summer. Your mentor will serve as a great informal resource in assisting with your orientation to practicing law at Cargill and will be available to answer any questions you may have throughout the summer.
Our 1L Diversity in Practice summer associate program
Our 1L summer associate program is designed for law students of color and is open to students who have completed their first year of law school. This program is available through Cargill's membership with Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, a consortium of law firms and corporate law departments dedicated to advancing diversity in the Twin Cities legal community by helping its members to identify, recruit, advance and retain lawyers of color in Minnesota's legal community. For more information on this program and how to apply, please refer to the Twin Cities in Diversity website at http://www.diversityinpractice.org.
Our 2L summer associate program
Our 2L summer associate program is designed as a steppingstone to employment with our law department and is open to students who have completed their second year of law school. Although most 2L summer associates are hired through on-campus recruiting at select schools, we also encourage interested candidates at other law schools to apply to our 2L summer associate program.
We are currently seeking candidates for our 2012 2L summer associate program. We are recruiting on campus at the following schools: University of Minnesota, William Mitchell, University of Wisconsin, University of Iowa, University of Chicago and Northwestern University. If you are a student at one of these schools, please apply for an on campus interview through your Career Services process, rather than through Cargill.com.
