Advancing animal nutrition

Cargill is applying our technical expertise to ensure that animals are fed the correct nutrients to enhance their performance and health — or improve the end products they produce for consumers.

Equine feed

One example of our work: Equine feed formulated to provide the precise, predictable energy supply that animals need for consistent performance. Developed to produce a low glycemic response in horses and other high-performance animals, Nutrena® EnergX™ horse feed (a Cargill brand) also offers health benefits, including reduced harm to joint health that may result from repeated glycemic peaks.

In developing EnergX feed, we used advanced models to measure a broad range of physiological issues, as well as in vitro, laboratory and animal testing methodologies.

Other examples of our work: Leaner meats and higher nutrient levels, such as more Omega 3 fatty acids in meat, milk and eggs.

Using our expertise in formulation technologies, Cargill has developed a portfolio of nutrient solutions across all animal species. And to assist our customers in the pet food and animal feed industry, we regularly apply our analytical skills, application models and animal production, health and processing technologies.
