Healthy, great-tasting food
and ingredients
Cargill is working to solve human health and nutrition issues by developing food ingredients that lower cholesterol, provide sustained energy, lower trans-fatty acids, enhance gut health and reduce sodium intake. And, of course, we are helping our customers ensure that their foods and beverages taste great.
Recent innovations resulting from collaborative work
- Truvia™, a natural, zero calorie sweetener, made from the stevia plant and developed in partnership with Coca-Cola.
- CoroWise™ Naturally Sourced Cholesterol Reducer™ plant sterols, an ingredient which has been clinically proven to lower cholesterol when consumed as part of a heart-healthy diet. The ingredient is in use in a growing number of consumer food and beverage products.
- A breakthrough sensory technology that enables our scientists to observe the interactions of all five taste modalities at the same time in order to better predict taste sensation. The technology enables us to discover taste modifiers and develop flavors that make our customers’ food and beverage products taste better.
Additional achievements
- Cooking oils with no trans-fats that restaurants use to turn out fries with the same great taste.
- New-to-the-world products, such as the first non-shellfish glucosamine, a unique joint health product for people with shellfish allergies.
- Improved fructose, corn syrup, citric acid and other food ingredients and their production processes.
- No-calorie, natural sweeteners for use in foods and beverages to help consumers manage their weight, and in chewing gums, to prevent tooth decay.
