My criteria for a graduate job were pretty straightforward: Competitive compensation, good growth prospects, interesting and challenging work. When I applied at Cargill they shared with me a detailed training plan, which clearly had my personal development at its center.

Through my first few months, I underwent intensive process training covering the operations systems and safety systems. This training included classroom learning, as well as in the field learning. To consolidate this training, I spent two months operating the process on both day and night shifts. In conjunction with this process based learning, I have also been part of the European Graduate Program. In this, I have been given the opportunity to learn and improve my soft skills – from teamwork to communication skills. These are modules that aren’t available at a university. The European Graduate Program has given me the chance to travel to many European cities, including Amsterdam, Mechelen, Barcelona and Moscow.

Since I joined Cargill, I have been involved in many different projects for process optimization and energy reduction: Power factor correction unit survey and installation; site power consumption metering installation; and steam trap survey and water mass balance applications.

Through detailed and specific training, challenging projects, responsibilities and a friendly workplace, Cargill has helped me to grow.
