Why did you join Cargill?

Prior to Cargill, I worked at a consumer packaged goods company. In making the move here, the most important criteria was that the position be technically challenging. I also appreciated the size of the organization and the learning opportunities it offered.

What kinds of problems do you help solve?

I work on product development and troubleshooting for customers when something in their system does not work. I’ve also worked on some R&D-type projects. I’m also on a customer-focused, cross-functional team of sales, marketing and technology. I’m also on a customer-focused, cross-functional team of sales, marketing and technology.

What is it like to work in R&D at Cargill?

I have only worked for privately held companies, but based on conversations with peers, I understand there is a difference in culture and approach to technology. My impression is that privately held companies may be more willing to invest in their technological future to build their business future. As a result, the work environment becomes more collaborative than competitive, and thereby produces greater, more creative results. That’s what I see at Cargill.

What keeps you at Cargill?

Cargill gives me some great thinking challenges everyday.

What might you tell someone interested in an opportunity in Cargill R&D?

I have complete support for achieving my goals. In addition to my manager, others are watching out for me to make sure I am developing my career. The size of the organization should not be intimidating or viewed as bureaucratic. I feel things get done at a good rate and with few obstacles.
