What's the meaning behind your name? 

Shalin means cultured/civilized in Bengali. 

Where are you originally from and where else have you lived? 

I am originally from Tanzania, but I have also lived/worked in Australia, India, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the UK prior to Minnesota. 

What languages can you speak? 

My other tongue is Gujarati; I can also speak some Hindi and Bengali. 

What is your educational background? 

B.A. Economics, Stanford University; Secondary B.A. International Relations, Stanford University; M.A. International Policy Studies, Stanford University; M.B.A; University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. 

How long have you been with Cargill, and what did you do prior to joining the company? 

I have been with Cargill for three years, one with Cargill Kitchen Solutions and two in Strategy and Business Development. Before Strategy and Business Development, I worked for three years in management consulting and two years in start-ups. 

Where was your field assignment? 

Cargill Kitchen Solutions – Minnesota, U.S. 

What do you like to do for fun/what are your hobbies? 

I like to read, watch foreign movies, work out, and travel. 

Who is your role model, and why? 

Abraham Lincoln, because of his belief in his principles. 

What do you see yourself doing at age 65? 

Painting, building furniture, working for a non-profit ... by that time, 65 will be the new 40.
