Workplace Culture

Opportunity to Succeed

Cargill's Collaboration

At Cargill, our culture is characterized by trust, freedom and responsibility. We attract employees who appreciate ethical decision making, mutual respect and the opportunity for a rewarding future. Hiring, motivating, developing and retaining the right people is critical to our ability to deepen relationships with customers and fulfill our promises to the communities we serve. That is why we regularly ask our employees how they feel about their work.

From 2007 to 2009, more than 94,000 employees completed employee engagement surveys measuring their satisfaction with topics like advancement opportunities, relationships with co-workers, total compensation, recognition and work activities. Over the past six years Cargill's engagement score has increased 16 percent; our most recent score places Cargill within the 'Best Employer Zone' as defined by our survey vendor. These surveys contain a valuing differences index that helps measure our employees' perceptions of an inclusive, respectful workplace.

We value the full range of perspectives and talents of our diverse employees. As we continue to expand worldwide, our differences – from experiences and work habits to communication styles and cultural preferences – are a powerful asset.

Supporting Diversity

We gather broad and deep data and feedback from employee groups around the world through our diversity action plan process. Through interviews and surveys, employees share their perspectives about issues and concerns, helping to create change and add value to the company.

Cargill Women's Council

In the United States, the Cargill Women’s Council was named among the top 25 organizational diversity councils for 2009 by the Association of Diversity Councils; Cargill has been in the top 10 of the association’s ranking the past two years and is the only food and agriculture company to be recognized.

High Performance Leadership Academy

Our leadership academy lays a foundation for Cargill’s future leaders. The program’s objectives and design are based on the unique cultural and business needs we have around the world.
