Describe your work responsibilities and the importance of your role.

I serve as a technology connection between Cargill’s China premix business and the global technology team. This means applying new Cargill technology offerings to develop local products and services. Much of my role entails understanding customers’ needs and providing the technical solutions necessary to support them. Consequently, I collaborate closely with our marketing and sales teams to provide technological support for their efforts. Further, I help develop talent within the company by training people in the business.

Describe your day-to-day activities and the skills needed to perform well.

As a technology person, I work with a diverse internal team – marketing, sales, operations, quality assurance and others – to optimize our current offerings, as well as develop new products and services for our customers in China. As a result, I need strong professional knowledge and leadership skills. Additionally, being able to assemble diverse teams to solve complex problems and pursue opportunities is crucial.

Describe your career path. Where did you start and how did you get to where you are today?

I joined Cargill’s animal nutrition business in 2008, as a technology and marketing manager. During this period, I had the opportunity to closely work with our sales team regarding customer needs and developing market strategies. Since 2009, I have served as the technology development manager and technology application for our premix feed business in China –focusing on technological applications, as well as product and service development. Cargill has afforded me opportunities to receive additional training on technology, marketing, and leadership in recent years. These experiences have helped me to further hone my capabilities and better serve the business.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

Cargill is a global company, continuously developing advanced technologies in the field of animal nutrition. My responsibility is determining how best to apply these new technologies in the local business context. Because I understand China’s market situation, customer needs and how to deploy technology, I can help develop products and services that provide unique value for the customer. This is something I find very rewarding.

As mentioned before, I appreciate Cargill’s culture. This includes values such as safety, integrity, respect for others, and a commitment to serve. I am passionate about travel and running. Travelling helps me to learn more about the outside world, and running helps me remain energetic and healthy.
