Describe your work responsibilities and the importance of your role.

I work on the Cape desk as a freight trader, overseeing the Indian Ocean and managing our Cape-sized period fleet. My role requires me to have a view of how the Cape market will trade, and work with the rest of the team to ensure that the desk is well-placed to monetize trading opportunities. Ultimately I need to generate trading profits, a necessity for any sustainable trading business.

Describe your career path. Where did you start and how did you get to where you are today?

I first joined Cargill on the iron ore trading desk for the metals business in 2014. I was later offered a full-time role as the trading assistant on the ocean transportation business’s Panamax desk in Singapore. A year ago, I applied to an internal job posting to be the junior trader on the Cape desk in Geneva, and voila!
