“What keeps me here? The principles, the standards the system and culture. At Cargill, I can improve myself and work freely and independently.”

What I like about Cargill is that there are standards and principles that help us work effectively. This is important for Cargill employees and customers.

Describe your work responsibilities and the importance of your role.

The most important task is to evaluate the chemical and nutritional value of feeds, feed supplements, grass and forage for commercial animals and pets. I formulate diets and rations to maximize growth. When I formulate I have to take into consideration the needs of animal, partner and our company as well – so from this perspective, I need to closely cooperate with other departments to get the relevant information. It is a very special area because I need to collect and integrate data, information from different sources and use them efficiently. I have big responsibility because if the formulating process or formula is not good, it causes serious problems for our partners and for our company.

Describe your day-to-day activities and the skills needed to perform well.

Our team provides support for two countries (Hungary and Romania), which is six plants in total. It is very important to coordinate the activities and find the most effective ways of working. The formulation team provides recipes for animal feeds. The production team uses the information, and based on recipes they start producing the products. I use computer software to formulate feed, conduct research and generate reports and forecasts. Planning skills and strategic thinking are very important. I need to be very precise and punctual and able to think through complexity.

Describe your career path. Where did you start and how did you get to where you are today?

I started my career as a Formulator in 2003. I really enjoyed that because I got the opportunity to work independently and make decisions alone. After three years, I became a Formulation Specialist which for me, meant that Cargill appreciated my work. I improved a lot during these years. Since 2012, I have been working as Formulation Manager (Hungary and Romania).

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

I like complexity – I have relationships with many functions. I like cooperating with other departments and working with people.

Why did you choose to join Cargill and what keeps you here? In other words, how has a career at Cargill helped you to thrive?

I liked the profile of the job and the company. I wanted to work as a Formulator so it seemed perfect for me. What keeps me here? The principles, the standards the system and culture. At Cargill, I can improve myself and work freely and independently.

What advice would you give someone interested in a career at Cargill like yours?

My advice would be to learn more than you are taught – openness and interest are key words.

Share an interesting tidbit about yourself such as hobbies, volunteerism, favorite foods or activities, accomplishments inside or outside of work.

I like participating in the corporate social responsibility activities and I like that Cargill finds it important. Here there is opportunity to be a volunteer in interesting projects. As a mother, for me it is helpful that Cargill offers me a flexible work schedule.
