Cargill’s Agricultural Supply Chain – North America (CASC NA) connects agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers through a seamless supply chain. We help our customers compete in the global market and efficiently deliver products from origins to destinations through our marketing, sourcing, originating, storing, trading, consulting and processing of grain, oilseeds and crop inputs products and solutions. CASC NA business reaches across Canada, United States & Mexico with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers. As the Millwright based out of our grain handling facility in Edmonton, AB, you will ensure that all plant equipment is maintained and repaired to the highest degree of reliability in a safe and cost effective manner. This position will be covered under the union contact.

Principle Accountabilities:

+ Install of new machinery and equipment while evaluating the estimated costs

+ Complete contract repair and installation work

+ Performs basic preventative maintenance

+ Maintains inventory of supplies, shop tools and equipment

+ Training staff under the direction of management in the areas related to specific job procedures

+ Provide safety training and awareness

+ Perform grain handling and other related duties as required

+ Provide superior customer service when dealing with colleagues and customer This permanent position is located in Edmonton; however please expect receiving calls from a 204 area code in case you are considered. Relocation assistance is not provided.


+ Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old

+ Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

+ Possession of Journeyman Red Seal Millwright ticket

+ Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces.

+ Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

+ Must be able to read/write English.

+ High School diploma or equivalent.

+ Ability to work overtime. Preferred:

+ Experience in the grain industry or related food industries

+ Knowledge of the Maintenance Reliability process (predictive and preventative maintenance) and Predictive Technologies

+ Welding certification and/or other trade experience

+ Previous experience with laser alignment equipment, diesel equipment, belt conveyors, small and large gear boxes, or hydraulics

+ Ability to read blueprints and layout drawings

+ Able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold

+ Able to work in elevated areas

+ Able to operate machinery

+ Able to operate heavy equipment

+ Forklift certified

+ Strong problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills

+ Strong work ethic and a desire to be part of a high-performing team

+ Able to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts

+ Prior experience in production related work

+ Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations with absolute commitment to safety
