The Poultry Category Lead is a global role which will drive the poultry strategic marketing in the Cargill Animal Nutrition (CAN) complete feed, premix, and additives businesses across the globe. This role reports to the Poultry Segment Director and is responsible for providing market insights, creating marketing plans, leading key projects, and managing the project portfolio and poultry global brand portfolio to guarantee best in class strategies on value creation for both customers and Cargill. The Poultry Category Lead will be key for understanding the growth drivers of priority businesses and defining strategic priorities to grow margin and volume. He/she will also work on connecting the identified opportunities with a relevant portfolio. This role will link the SMT ecosystem with other areas within CAN. It will also have close contact with Cargill Protein and Salt (CPS), Cargill Health Technologies (CHT) and Digital Insights (DI) for joint projects/initiatives, and to guarantee alignment of the overall Cargill strategy. The Poultry Category Lead will work with global and local teams (traveling globally up to 30% of the time), creating and implementing the tactical marketing material, optimizing the local poultry portfolio, bringing New Products, Services and Solutions (NPSS) to the markets, and developing global and local teams with business and marketing related trainings. Strategic marketing – 40% Collaborate in the definition of strategic priorities (markets, growth drivers, portfolio, capabilities, investment, etc.) of CAN’s Poultry SMT, and of priority businesses. Provide global market insights (market, customer, and competition) required to drive strategy on innovation and business support. Create and implement marketing plans (7P’s) for New Products, Services and Solutions from the global team, and collaborate with that on priority markets to support their growth drivers. Drive the strategy on NPSS value creation for both customers and Cargill. Participate in strategic interactions with priority businesses (business refresh, how to win, SMT in-weeks, etc.) Partner with other areas within Cargill (CHT, DI, CPS) as needed. Collaborate in the development, and partner in the implementation of tactical marketing materials to successfully bring poultry NPSS to market. New Products, Services and Solutions (NPSS) – 45% Manage the global poultry projects portfolio, defining priorities, branding strategy, balance (long/short term, high/low risk), and fit to the overall strategy. Guarantee that best practices are in place on project management (utilizingCargill Project Management methodology, agile methodologies, etc.) within the poultry SMT. Establish and implement clear metrics and tracking systems for the portfolio, in alignment with PMO and FP&A. Update the SMT poultry projects pipeline. Share and align the pipeline with other areas (CHT, DI, CPS, etc.). Influence leadership (MDs, SMT Leads, and commercial leaders) in multiple countries for the local implementation and tracking of global NPSS projects. Lead key poultry projects, and participate as strategic marketing lead in others. Collaboration and teams development – 15% Live our Cargill Leadership Expectations and foster our CAN SMT culture. Create a network and collaborate with other strategic marketing leads across Cargill. This will require a target market insight, building relationships, influencing, establishing a proven track record in serving the business, drafting best practices, introducing new approaches, and providing the ‘voice of the customer.’ Collaborate in the development of strategic marketing talents and capabilities in priority businesses. Coordinate the development of in-system technology and R&D teams on project management and business related trainings.


Bachelor’s degree related to agriculture, veterinary, nutrition or business related; Solid experience focused on Animal Health Nutrition; Solid interpersonal skills; being effective in listening, verbal, and written communication. Understand the animal industry dynamics, and market insights/trends. Strong organization, portfolio and project management skills. Effectively manage multiple projects that require various resources, by balancing priorities, managing timelines, and delivering results by creating and capturing value. Strong ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary and indirect teams. High accountability, strong initiative, sense-of-urgency, and an entrepreneurial approach. Excellent strategic marketing, and decision-making skills. Understands how to develop and bring creative innovations to market, mastering value proposition, and value capture strategies. Experience in go-to-market, including leading projects, managing resources, preparing launches, and tracking results. Experience with finance, including managing budgets and business decision metrics. Exposure to multidisciplinary, virtual, and multicultural work environment.
