Technical Services Manager

Position Purpose & Summary Accountable for understanding and executing strategy through new customer and market development gains for all the Cargill portfolio with special focus of Sweetener and starch product lines on beverage, confectionery and dairy categories. Proactively visits customers in order to offer Cargill solutions from multiple product lines. Generates value by managing Cargill portfolio for Regional and National Strategic customers in West and East Africa region by running projects either through required new ingredients or by introducing Cargill products, services and systems.
_50% CUSTOMER & PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT_
+ Partners with Commercial Teams to identify strategy and plans execution in order to bring value through defending business and new business development. Makes sure that there is a healthy pipeline to averse risk.
+ Participates customer visits with commercial teams and also establishes customer contacts with R&D , Product Development teams of the customer to understand customers business strategy, their innovation pipeline and market trends.
+ Independently explores customer trends, competitiors capabilities and identifies gaps or strong points. Leverages Cargill synergies and strong points to support value sales and finds solutions for gap closing actions
+ Supports and trains commercial teams fro technical knowledge. _25% VALUE OPTIMIZATION & TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY_
+ Acts as primary technical contact for customers. Aligns with Cargill R&D network and Application Centers to serve & support customers for recipe formulations, process and manufacturing capabilities and final product quality.
+ Identifies, prioritize and systematically reviews the project pipeline according to business targets, capabilities.
+ Proactively supports capability improvement by feeding the market information to the business. Provides customer insight to commercial teams
+ Represents Cargill in relevant Industry meetings as influencer to support Cargill and to bring external view back to Cargill. _25% PROJECT EXECUTION – RESOLUTION_
+ Identifies projects classified as Level 1 and Level 1a projects & prioritize according to business needs and strategy alignment. Executes projects in a timely manner in order to generate value to business, seeks support from Cargill network and external partners where necessary.
+ Provides follow up and reports value gains and appropriate KPI’s also project updates.
+ Degree in area of Science like Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Life Sciences or Degree in Engineering like Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering etc
+ Experience in Food Industry especially in the area of Beverage, Confectionery and Dairy.
+ Product, process development, R&D, Technical Services skills especially customer facing experience
+ Project / portfolio management
+ Sales effectiveness
