**Job location: Manchester**

Cargill’s plant in Manchester is a production facility at the hub of the UK food, spirit, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industries. The plant and offices located in Manchester are part of Cargill’s starches and sweeteners business which produces sweeteners, wheat protein and alcohol for customers in the confectionery, brewing, drink, dairy, farming and bakery sectors. The Team Coordinator will manage a team of process operators and apprentices in the manufacture of starch, glucose syrup, ethanol and PFL’s in a controlled, safe and environmentally compliant manner to achieve production targets. The position holder will work closely with the day supervision team and is responsible for safety, maintenance and production during their shift. The coordinator works with the Area Superintendent to cover production and maintenance issues as they may arise.

**Main Tasks:**

+ To be the incident controller in the event of an incident/accident for the total site

+ To lead timely and detailed investigations with health and safety into any accidents and at all time ensure a robust adherence to Cargill and legal safety and environmental standards

+ Ensure the safe working of all Cargill employees, contractors and visitors by supervision, behavioural safety audits, risk assessments, permit to work documentation and safety conversations

+ To manage good housekeeping within all areas of the plant and continued compliance with ISO and BRC standards

+ Ensure the food safety of products

+ Manage a team of skilled operators and apprentices and assist them with any troubleshooting relating to the plant operation

+ To manage shift handovers including production rates, plant downtime and to set team members priorities

+ To be proactive and hands on when managing the plant including providing assistance to the maintenance technicians

+ To assist during out of hours

+ To manage plant shutdowns

+ Lead continuous improvement activities on the shift including but not limited to 5Why’s, Operator Care, 5S and Kaizen

+ Monitor and drive shift performance ensuring KPI’s are tracked, reported and actioned

+ Coaching, development and training of colleagues and ensure employee engagement

+ Coordinate and allocate labour resources

+ Encourage continuous improvement in the process by shift colleagues and to lead and own projects raised by colleagues

+ Lead cost saving initiatives.


+ 5 GSCE’s Grade A-C (including English and Math’s) or equivalent, NVQ 2/3 in Processing Operations would be advantageous

+ Proven experience in production and experience from a similar industry e.g. chemicals, petrochemicals, heavy pharmaceuticals or food/ingredients, wheat /starches processing would be a considerable advantage but not a requirement

+ Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstration of leadership skills, people management and or projects/ initiatives

+ Proven ability to ensure Health and Safety standards and knowledge of Food Safety and Quality standards would be an advantage i.e. ISO9001/ 22000 / BRC

+ Manage conflicting priorities within tight deadlines

+ Excellent organisation skills to set priorities

+ Fully IT literate

+ A proactive attitude and willingness to be accountable for production performance

+ Ability to challenge the status quo in a constructive manner

+ Awareness of continuous improvement tools and their application

+ Willing to continually develop and learn professionally

+ Basic front line maintenance experience in a process plant environment

+ Fluent English (written and verbal) and effectively able to communicate across different levels of an organization.
