Job location: Manchester (M17 1PA) Cargill’splant in Manchester is a production facility at the hub of the UK food, spirit, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics industries. The plant and offices located in Manchester are part of the Cargill’s starches and sweeteners business which produces sweeteners, wheat protein and alcohol for customers in the confectionery, brewing, drink, dairy, farming and bakery sectors. The role will be responsible for building successful customer relationships and insights with customers across the Cargill product portfolio for beverages.. The role will provide technical support and guidance to customers on the use, adaptation, configuration and development of Cargill products, processes and systems, through meetings and trials at the Manchester site and customer sites. The role provides an excellent opportunity to deliver significant value for customers and to act as a ‘solutions partner.’ Due to the nature of the role there will be extensive travel required (30-50% of the time), so flexibility will be required.
+ Build strong, long lasting relationships with customers, providing technical expertise for existing products and look to develop new products, services and solutions
+ Work closely with Account managers to build and execute a strong customer development plan
+ Customer support may include; ingredient, recipe, process optimization, product launches, trouble shooting, legislation guidance, training, lab/pilot/ plant trials at both Cargill and customer locations
+ Interact collaboratively with the customers R&D teams to understand their strategy, expectations, needs and future needs and opportunities
+ Internally provide feedback on market trends, ideas, opportunities to help decide future business strategy
+ Help to build differentiated technical solutions and value propositions that separate Cargill from its competitors
+ Network both internally and externally (committees, technical exhibitions) to understand wider industry trends
+ Support colleagues in their technical knowledge and understanding
+ A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical subject (for example Food Science, Brewing Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Technology) or a related subject
+ A Masters or PhD would be advantageous but not required
+ Practical experience in designing solutions and applying ingredients in the beverages/ ingredients sector
+ Technical knowledge and experience in Sweeteners, Proteins, Hydrocolloids, Starches, Lecithins would be strongly preferred
+ Extensive customer facing, technical service experience in a complex environment
+ A collaborative approach to customer relationships, able to act as a ‘solutions partner’ and add value to customers through innovation and insight – translating industry and market trends into new opportunities
+ Able to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation and able to present technical solutions to customers
+ Excellent time and project management skills are is essential in this position
+ Fluent English (both verbal and written) and excellent communication skills
