Position Purpose & Summary: A Technical Account Manager (TAM) provides detailed technical R&D leadership to customers and project teams. The customer team works with our strategic customers to understand their strategy, assess customers’ needs, and proactively provide solutions. The TAM is accountable to:

+ Deliver results on a portfolio of projects aligned to the business strategy.

+ Develop strong customer relationships, including regular face to face interaction with the customer such as meetings, trainings, trials (at all levels) at Cargill or the customers’ site.

+ Provide technical support and guidance to the customers on the use, adaption, configuration, enhancement or development of Cargills products/processes/systems.

+ Identify and provide insight and leadership internally about customers, trends, and opportunity spaces.

+ Provide expertise in the bakery and beverage category

+ Serving customers in the UK, Ireland, Scotland and Scandanavia

Principal Accountabilities:

_55% Customer Partner_

+ Provides the technical expertise for strategic accounts

+ Interacts with the customer’s R&D teams to understand the customer strategy, expectations, needs, and to anticipate and report unmet and poorly met needs and opportunities.

+ Collaborates with the Strategic Key Account Manager to build and execute a strong customer development plan and value propositions

+ Provides technical support to, build relationships with and to create value for strategic key account customers, in alignment with the business catalogue of services

+ Offers a balance of solutions to support maintaining customers’ competitive position, growth through new business development (NBD), and the commercialization of new products, service and solutions (NPSS). _This includes customer support such as recipe/ingredient/process optimization, product launches, complaint management, trouble shooting, legislation guidance, training, lab / pilot/ plant trials at both Cargill and customer facilities and support to SKU & range management_ _45% Business & Technology Leader_

+ Communicates & connects effectively with all key stakeholders and provides insight on market trends, ideas, unmet needs, opportunities, pains, gains, and competitor solutions & learnings

+ May represent Cargill in relevant external organisations, committees, technical exhibitions and groups

+ Builds differentiated technical solutions and value propositions and proactively provides insights to optimize SKU portfolio.

+ Develops (continuously) knowledge re ingredients, applications, capabilities and skills

+ Is decisive and results oriented, accountable for own goals and supports high performance and development of others / team

+ Provides coaching & mentoring to build organizational technical competence and to improve the success rate of projects.

+ Is a leader, driving alignment with business strategy.

+ Drives execution through strong project management and technical expertise.

+ Is responsible for supporting Cargill’s intellectual property strategy.


Minimum Required Qualifications:

+ BSc (or BAC 5) or equivalent vocational education/apprenticeship in Food Science, Chemistry, Technology or related topic

Preferred Qualifications:

+ More than 5-7 years work experience, post studies, (3yrs with Ph.D) in Technical Service provision in the food industry with a focus on bakery and beverage categories as appropriate

+ Practical experience in applying the wide offer of food ingredients, in bakery and beverage applications as appropriate

+ Technical knowledge and experience in Sweeteners, Proteins, Hydrocolloids, Starch, Lecithin and/or Functional systems as relevant to the food industry with a focus on bakery and beverage categories as appropriate

+ Customer facing technical service / R&D leadership experience, preferably in B2B / Ingredient supplier companies

+ Proven ability to deliver result in a technical position. Able to build competitive advantage through the use of the organization’s technical capabilities, and by providing product innovation and other creative solutions.

+ Experience in effectively building and managing customer relationships.

+ Able to translate industry/market trends into new opportunities and solutions for existing and new customers/markets.

+ Able to assess strengths and weaknesses of the competition and develop solution strategies.

+ Strong presentation skills

+ Experienced in managing projects, at least with small, low rigor projects

+ Strong prioritization / time management skills

+ Experience with cross-functional and multi-cultural teams.

+ Experience in delivering strong results within a matrix organization.

+ Good tolerance of ambiguity combined with a pro-active approach to problem- solving

+ Able to coach others and educate & develop technical expertise

+ Fluent in spoken and written English.
