Position Purpose & Summary This position is a part of the APAC Regional Environment team focusing on developing and deploying global environmental compliance programs in the Asia Pacific Region and monitoring/managing regional regulatory developments in designated discipline (Waste & Material Management). Reports to the Cargill APAC Environmental Lead and will actively deploy the Cargill Environmental Strategy and program in APAC. The position will support the deployment of the CEHS strategy and critical project management; development and implementation of global environmental compliance programs; and deployment of CEHS work processes and technologies, consistent with Cargill Risk Compliance Framework (Risk Assessment, Policies/Procedures/Controls; Communications & Training; Auditing, Monitoring & Analytics; Reporting; and issue Investigation/Resolution). The

APAC Waste Program Lead

will provide regional leadership and apply subject matter knowledge of hazardous material and waste management, spill prevention, soil protection and remediation; storage, transportation & disposal; and pollution prevention & sustainability. The position will act as the regional Hazardous Material and Waste Programs Manager and be an active participant on the Cargill Waste Team. Responsibilities include: Compliance issue management; regional and local content development and improvement in key programs associated with Material and Waste Management; technology support on pollution prevention, reduction and sustainability efforts; assessment of contracted waste transport and disposal services; qualitative and quantitative risk analysis; compliance measures and performance; data collection and analytics systems; compliance verification (including assessments, reviews and audits); and environmental communication and training.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Environmental Risk Analysis/Compliance Assurance:

+ Maintain a robust compliance program for environmental programs in Region. Ensure consistent development, deployment, execution and verification of Corporate EHS policies/requirements, corporate goals and EHS initiatives cross APAC region.

+ Assess Environmental risks and opportunities facing businesses and assess potential impacts on priorities, key stakeholders (customer, community, interest groups, employees), and on Corporate Strategy in region.

+ Participate the Global HazMat/Waste SME Team to develop/update of the Hazardous Materials & Waste programs requirements, necessary guidance, support materials, and training.

+ Leads the execution of corporate-wide EHS projects, programs, processes, and technologies in region.

+ Deploy systems and metrics to affectively track, monitor and report progress and measures to stakeholders and leadership team members.

+ Develop compliance verification approach and tools, including facility-level CEHS audit protocols where applicable and business-level review/assessments. 40% Collaborative Partnering

+ Partner with other Cargill compliance activities and key functions (Legal, Strategic Sourcing, Global Operations) and Business Leaders regarding appropriate process controls, procedures for regulatory compliance evaluation and risk mitigation for environmental compliance.

+ Collaborate with internal partners and external stakeholders to execute elements of the EHS strategy in processes, programs and work of others, as appropriate, to enable EHS and support partner goals.

+ Network with external organizations to identify best practices, effective technologies, and cooperative solutions that can be applied effectively to help in support of EHS strategy implementation.

+ Lead development of process and policy deployments with an emphasis on building capacity in the business through technical expertise and support

+ Participate on relevant trade organizations as necessary to support innovation, development and compliance efforts.

+ Act as Company expertise internal and external to Cargill on Hazardous Material management and Waste Management. 20% Regulatory Management:

+ Collaborate with regulatory managers, operations and subject matter expertise to develop and implement robust regulatory strategies.

+ Conduct regional regulatory surveillance to anticipate environmental regulations and requirements that could affect operations.

+ Remain current with legislation, directives and new regulatory information related to regulated chemical management and waste throughout APAC Region.

+ Interpret complex information, summarizes and communicates impacts. Conduct applicability analyses.Inform business decisions on emerging trends.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills Minimum Required Qualifications Required Education:

+ Bachelor degree in Environmental engineering and science. Required Experience/Skills:

+ 8 years’ experience in environmental compliance, waste compliance and regulatory affairs

+ Strong knowledge of Waste and chemical stewardship & technology

+ Strong knowledge of Environmental compliance and management systems

+ Strong Project Leadership skills.

+ Experience working in a matrixed organization.

+ Ability to operate independently, build internal inter-functional work relationships and establish/maintain external Environmental, water compliance and natural resource networks.

+ Demonstrated ability to quickly conceptualize and understand strategy, business model and supporting processes.

+ Effective problem-solving, project management, critical thinking and development skills.

+ Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual skills.

+ Strong knowledge of environmental compliance systems, controls and technologies

+ Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office applications

+ Fluent in English, Fluency in Mandarin and/or other main regional language preferred

+ Multi country regulatory experience

+ Ability to understand and navigate effectively through networks and across organizational boundaries to gain support

+ Use knowledge to advance science or technical knowledge to influence regulations or recognized leading practices

+ Ability to communicate and influence senior leadership to front line management

+ Demonstrated excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills

+ Ability to travel 30% Preferred Qualifications

+ Masters degree in engineering or science is preferred

+ Participate and pursue leadership roles in external organization to bring “outside in” perspective and exposure to leading practices
