Media Relations and Issues Response Manager

We are looking for a highly-motivated Communications & Issues Response Manager to join our Global Media Relations team. In this role, you will be being responsible for the media relations execution and issue response for dedicated geographies. This will involve implementing the communication strategy within the region, enhancing and supporting business objectives with the media, public, industry, and other partners. With a focus on effecting the media relations by geography, crafting the templates and the tools, leading the acquisitions and contacting the PR agencies that we will use. The role will report to the Senior Director of Global Media Relations, work closely with the corporate communications team, strategic media relations directors, digital and social teams as well as internal and external partners including communication leads within Enterprise and function, country leaders and embedded marketing and sales teams.

Key Accountabilities:

+ Proactively develop and run media and issues response execution strategy in alignment with the global business strategy, to drive effective communications in the assigned geography

+ Serve as primary spokesperson for Cargill within the assigned geography

+ Lead the work and performance of PR agencies in each country

+ Advise country leadership on external communications and issue response

+ Drive teamwork between coordinated teams from various communications practices to build and implement the strategy

+ Lead, coordinate and execute media campaigns in the country from a content perspective across multiple channels to drive awareness of key business priorities

+ Serve on issues management response teams, alongside Government Relations, Corporate Responsibility and other global functions, to handle Cargill’s reputation and license to operate

+ Utilize Global Communications common tools, templates and processes to facilitate coordinated communications across Cargill

+ Provide media and communications training and support to leaders in designated area

+ Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, minimum 6 years of related work experience Extensive experience with a variety of communications strategies utilized within a global, matrixed organization Good understanding of communications channels and content development for those channels Experience in developing coordinated communications plans Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint Vendor selection and management experience, along with familiarization with the RFP process Media relations expertise, as well as crisis communications and issues management

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in the industry Develop strong discernment to advise leadership and effectively partner with marketing and sales teams Prior experience as media spokesperson Ability to translate complicated messaging into easy to understandable language Familiarity with food and nutrition topics and issues Ability to speak the language of the country/region in which serving

Prior Beneficial Experiences

* Experience with social media strategies and tactics * Experience with manufacturing-based companies and/or companies with geographically and functionally diverse operations are beneficial. * Experience with purpose-driven brands and sustainability storytelling is a strong plus
