To assist all areas of manufacture, production and customer service to ensure the accuracy and quality of the feed service internally (as well as externally). The QA Technician position is dedicated to development, implementation, integration, and support of company quality control and quality assurance system initiatives. QA Lab Technician:

+ Work mainly in a feed mill environment with supporting work in the lab.

+ Feed quality and feed safety monitoring: during processing, at packaging, and in inventory.

+ Conduct routine physical inspection analyses to in-process and finished good samples daily.

+ Inspection of complete feed products, which includes classification of their release or rejection status. Any rejections will be confirmed with manager.

+ Organize and conclude extruder operator's report, check list, batching reports and feed inspection reports.

+ Ensure product nutritional compliance based on monitoring of the reported production values.

+ Data entry and creation of data summaries and reports.

+ Inspection and testing of incoming raw materials for ensuring appropriate specifications.

+ Safe operation of lab instruments.

+ Maintenance of QA storage area.

+ Support company safety and environmental policies.

+ Other QA/QC related functions, as and when required.

+ Follow SOPs, HACCP and GMPs.

+ Conducts QA lab safety audits.

+ Ensure company QA policies are followed.

+ Provide support during internal audits, third party audits, mock recalls and audit preparation of policies and procedures.

+ Preparation of product quality reports and real time reporting.

+ Investigate quality complaints as required.

+ NIR analysis of in-coming commodities and finish feeds.

+ Assist in monitoring compliance with governmental regulations, with regard to feed production.

+ Assistance with IMS (Integrated Management Systems) inspections/audits of commodity storage facilities, factory, warehouse, QA Lab and grounds.

+ Assistance with R&D analyses, including NIR (Near-Infrared) instrument maintenance.

+ Become familiar with routine proximate analysis (such as Soxtec Fat, Dumas protein determination, moisture analysis, sieve analysis, ÿA and P.V. analysis of oils etc) of all in-coming materials and feed samples taken for wet lab and use this data to update NIR Calibrations and send reports to Supervisor/Manager.

+ Perform bulk densities on commodities and feeds and report data.

+ Work in other QA related functions as and when required. This contract position is located in Surrey, BC; however please expect receiving calls from a 204 number in case you are considered. Relocation assistance is not provided.



+ Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

+ Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old

+ Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping

+ Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

+ Must be able to read/write English

+ High School diploma or equivalent

+ Basic computer skills

+ Ability to work overtime

+ Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts Preferred:

+ Able to perform physical job duties including climbing ladders, open/close valves and pounding with hammer

+ Able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold

+ Able to work in elevated areas

+ Able to operate machinery

+ Prior experience in production related work

+ Strong organizational and communication skills, with ability for quick learning

+ Ability to work with minimal supervision

+ Bachelors or Diploma in Biological or Chemical Sciences with Food, experience in feed, food and/or Aquaculture industry

+ Knowledge of HACCP, WHMIS, ISO Systems, Integrated Management Systems, and Workplace Inspections would be advantageous, but not initially required
