Position Purpose & Summary Responsible for the development, deployment and continuous improvement of environmental, safety and health management systems, that will enable the business in the location/country to achieve its goal of developing a Complete Safety Culture. Champion and drive a proactive culture of accountability, stakeholder engagement and sustainability in the location and the business’ Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) program. The position will provide EHS leadership to management, employees in operations and commercial roles and contractors at our manufacturing, administrative and warehousing facilities.
_20% DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT EHS STRATEGY_
+ Assesses Environment, Health and Safety risks and opportunities using general knowledge of EHS practices and standards (including current and short-term future regulatory requirements) and potential impacts on stakeholder (customer, community, interest groups, employees) priorities, or enterprise/ business/location strategy.
+ Supports efforts to ensure deep understanding and achieve support of the approved EHS strategy, or relevant parts of the approved EHS strategy, from internal and some external partners and stakeholders.
+ Internally, this includes contributing to collaboration with a variety of other functions.
+ Externally, this may include contributing efforts to obtain approvals or permits with regulating bodies and work with external consultants.
+ Leads or assists in the development of programs and processes to execute EHS strategy in a manner appropriate to the technology, scope and maturity of the team/area.
+ Identifies and implements changes to support continuous improvement of EHS programs and processes. _25% MAINTAIN AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE EHS RESULTS_
+ Provides leadership to EHS audit, inspection and risk assessment processes.
+ Adopts EHS auditing and risk assessment standards.
+ Reviews and analyzes audit results, to confirm that the corporate, business and government EHS standards are met.
+ Analyzes processes and data to identify trends and isolate root causes. Supports process to ensure that appropriate follow-up actions are being implemented.
+ Through existing systems, measures and data according to corporate and Group EHS standards.
+ Monitors change in the external environment, including regulations, science, and stakeholder positioning. Assesses applicability and impact within immediate scope of responsibility. Provides input on tactics to address/support change. _50% SHAPE INTERNAL EHS CULTURE_
+ Builds effective working relationships with employees in order to obtain/sustain a strong EHS culture.
+ Lead and set expectations on proper safety planning (effective JSAs and Pre-Job Hazard Assessments)
+ Lead safety meetings and participate in Pre shift meetings
+ Monitor contractor and Cargill activity to ensure compliance with Cargill policies and procedures
+ Implements internal communications strategy for key audiences that builds and maintains awareness of Environment, Health and Safety values, strategies, and performance; shares best practices and key learnings; develops talent; and recognizes high performance. Audiences are not limited to BOSC, but include SMT, sales, commercial etc.
+ Promotes proactive workplace Environment, Health and Safety practices, using general knowledge of EHS practices and standards, provides technical, regulatory and behavioral support required to build a strong EHS culture.
+ Designs and delivers training solutions related to Environment, Health and Safety issues, practices and risks.
+ Supports the development and implementation of recognition programs to acknowledge positive behaviour and celebrate successes on topics of Environment, Health and Safety.
+ Key member of the location leadership team. _5% MANAGE EHS BRAND_
+ May participate in relevant external EHS professional business and industry organizations.
+ Guides employees on specific customer and community concerns related to routine Environment, Health and Safety topics and equips them with the information and tools they need to accurately represent Cargill on EHS topics.
+ Frequently consults with internal sales and commercial teams and occasionally consults with external organizations to stay informed of external EHS matters facing community and customers. Provides operational leadership to meet and exceed the expectations, values and priorities of community, customers, consumers and NGO’s.
+ Degree in a field related to Environment, Health and/or Safety
+ Applied knowledge and working understanding of OSHA, regulatory compliance, experience with inspections, incident investigations, process safety, contractor safety, EHS training, hazard reviews and job safety analysis
+ Strong influencing and collaborative skills
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ Computer literacy: Power Point, Word, Excel, and internet
+ Good English language skills
+ Environmental, Occupational Health & Hygiene and/or Safety recognized certifications (CIH, CSP, CHMM, REM, CPEA, QEP)
+ 5 years of direct Environmental, Industrial Hygeine, Occupational Health and/or Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
