Description
As the Senior Data Scientist you will becomepart of the Global Data Science team that is building specific data science capabilitiesand deliver projects across all of Cargill’s enterprises and support functions.You work in multidisciplinary teams with other data scientists, data engineersand domain experts from the internal clients. In this position you will bemanaging projects that use advanced analytics techniques such as machinelearning, deep learning, optimisation and statistical modelling to developsolutions that help deliver significant value in areas such as health &safety management, sustainability, quality, trading, commercial excellence,supply chain optimization and finance. This role will primarily focus onCargill’s trading teams.

Major Tasks



+ You manage data science projects in an international and multidisciplinary context from start to end.

+ You conduct explorative data analysis and develop predictive models using machine learning/AI.

+ You develop visualization products to share analysis across a variety of internal stakeholders such as leadership teams, key users and other data experts.

+ You continuously seek out industry best practices and develop skills to enhance Cargill’s’ data science capabilities.

+ You network with business stakeholders to develop a pipeline of data science projects aligned with business strategies.

+ You translate complex and ambiguous business problems into clear project charters outlining approach, risks, scope and deliverables.

+ You lead a cross-disciplinary project team of database specialists, data scientists, and business subject-matter experts to complete project deliverables on-time and within budget.

+ You educate and inspire colleagues about the possibilities and limitations of data science.



Qualifications



Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Physics, Operations Research or related fields.

+ Minimum 6 years relevant work experience (if Bachelor’s degree) or minimum 3 years relevant work experience (if Master’s degree) with a proven track record in driving value in a commercial setting using data science skills.

+ In-depth knowledge of various modelling algorithms e.g. Linear, GLMs, trees based models, neural networks, clustering, PCA, and time series models.

+ Proficiency in Python (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn, bokeh, nltk, deep-learning frameworks)

+ Experience working in a trading environment (commodities markets preferred but any futures trading experience is relevant)

+ In-depth knowledge of databases, data modelling, Hadoop, and distributed computing frameworks.

+ Experience working with cloud computing services (e.g. AWS, Azure)

+ Experience with Agile software development and code management/versioning (e.g. git).

+ Strong SQL skills and experience/knowledge.

+ Ability to understand complex and ambiguous business needs and applying the right tools and approaches.

+ Must be curious, self-motivating, driven and have a passion for problem solving.

+ Collaborative team player.

+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

+ Ability to present complex concepts to lay persons in an easy to understand way.
