We understand what it takes to properly manage vessel port calls. From handling basic single cargo loadings and un-loadings to more complicated multi-commodity loadings and un-loadings, NOVA works closely with the masters, surveyors, government officials and terminals to ensure that nothing is overlooked. We represent owners, charterers and cargo interests from all across the globe who entrust us with handling their vessels.

From vessel tracking programs to monitoring berth activity at the various facilities, NOVA has access to port information which assists us in making the most informed and commercially responsible decisions for our customers.

Our History
- 1813 : Simon Fribourg establishes Continental Grain Company (CGC) in Arlon, Belgium as a grain trading firm
- 1921 : CGC expanded operations into the United States and established Continental Grain in Chicago and New York
- 1928 : CGC acquires its first grain elevator in St. Louis, Missouri
- 1940 : The Fribourg family leaves Europe to settle in the United States
- 1977 : After making significant investments into the poultry and feed business, Astral International Shipping Services is formed in New Orleans, Louisiana as a vessel husbanding agency to support CGC’s grain exports out of the lower Mississippi River
- 1989 : Astral International expands its footprint to service other US ports
- 1999 : CGC sells its grain merchandising business to Cargill, which includes Astral International Shipping Services; at the same time Astral is renamed NOVA INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING SERVICES
