The passionate men and women of Cargill are among the finest in their industries. Tony Pekarek recognized this reality when CEO Greg Page and Horizon Milling President Dan Dye spoke to Pekarek’s classes at Bethel University. He was instantly attracted to their remarkable leadership qualities and was determined to work with and learn from Cargill’s exceptional talent.
“I wanted to find the best people, with the best goals and take plenty of risks while finding a way to get on board. My highest career goal (at the time I was attending college) was to get on board at a distinctive company like Cargill — and only Cargill.”
Today, Pekarek is the assistant human resources manager for the Cargill Beef plant in Friona, Texas. He is driven by a goal to positively impact the Friona plant’s 1,800 employees and surrounding community. Tony’s commitment is evident whether supporting compliance with labor laws, facilitating engagement activities or strengthening community relations as the Friona “Cargill Cares” leader.
Pekarek never misses an opportunity to interact with leaders in his department or beyond. He admires their integrity, conviction and courage. He aspires to become one of them. He’s on his way.
