As a Federal Contractor to the US Government, the Cargill Supplier Diversity Program works to drive the use of small businesses as defined by FAR Part 19 - Small Business Programs 

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), an independent federal government agency, helps Americans start, build and grow businesses. The SBA provides programs, services and certifications that support the development of small business concerns (www.sba.gov ).

SBA definitions  

Small Business Concern (SBC)/Small Business Enterprise (SBE): Independently owned and operated small business as defined by SBA criteria (www.sba.gov) & (www.sam.gov).

Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB): The firm must be 51% or more owned and controlled by one or more disadvantaged persons; the disadvantaged person or persons must be socially disadvantaged and economically disadvantaged; The firm must be small, according to SBA’s size standards. 

Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB): Be a small business according to SBA size standards; be at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens; have women manage day-to-day operations who also make long-term decisions 

HUBZone Small Business Concern (HUBZone ): Be a small business according to SBA size standards; be at least 51% owned and controlled by U.S. citizens, a Community Development Corporation, an agricultural cooperative, an Alaska Native corporation, a Native Hawaiian organization, or an Indian tribe; have its principal office located in a HUBZone*; have at least 35% of its employees living in a HUBZone* 

Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB): Be identified by the VA as a Veteran or Service-Disabled Veteran; be considered a small business, as defined by the size standard corresponding to any NAICS code listed in the business’s SAM profile;have no less than 51% of the business owned and controlled by one or more veterans.

Service-disabled-Owned Small Business: Be identified by the VA as a Veteran or Service-Disabled Veteran; be considered a small business, as defined by the size standard corresponding to any NAICS code listed in the business’s SAM profile; have no less than 51% of the business owned and controlled by one or more veterans rated as service-disabled by the VA.
