FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about our supplier diversity efforts
Why should I register as a Diverse Supplier?
At Cargill, we know that we are a stronger company when we harness the power of inclusion and diversity. To be successful as a global organization, our suppliers should reflect the communities where we work and live.
Cargill provides equal opportunities to all businesses that bid to meet our procurement needs and actively builds partnerships with all types of suppliers.
When we partner with suppliers that offer different perspectives, we are stronger and better able to serve the needs of our global customers. In furtherance of becoming better suited to serving our global customers, registering helps Cargill fulfill its obligations to its customers, including the U.S. government as part of Cargill’s commitments as a federal government contractor, by providing supplier diversity information in a general, aggregated, and confidential matter.
I am a global diverse supplier. Can I still register as diverse supplier in your portal?
Yes, you can register. Cargill looks for diverse opportunities in the US and other parts of the world. Note today we recognize multiple certifications identifying a supplier as diverse.
When will I be contacted?
After all steps are completed, you will receive an e-mail acknowledging that you have completed the registration process and have been added to our diverse supplier database. No further contact will be provided to confirm completed registration.
How can I update my information?
Once you are registered, you can log onto http://cargill.suppliergateway.com at any time. You are strongly encouraged to update your profile annually, ensuring your certificates are up-to-date and unexpired.
I’ve registered… Now what?
Acceptance into our supplier diversity registration does not guarantee business or opportunity. Cargill will use the database to search for potential suppliers on an as-needed basis. We encourage all suppliers to learn as much about Cargill and our many businesses as possible.
What do I do with an Invitation to Register?
If you receive an invitation to registration, make sure that you complete the registration via the registration email ONLY.
How long will my registration be valid?
A valid, up-to-date registration is required to participate in our system. It is up to you to keep the information in your registration up to date annually.
How can I present my company to Cargill buyers?
Registering in the Cargill portal is the best method for maximum exposure by the buying team. Ensuring that your profile is accurate, complete and compelling raises your opportunity of being contacted by a procurement professional. Also consider including diversity, safety, and industry-specific certifications, capability statements and recognitions and awards that give buyers a comprehensive overall of your company’s services or product offerings.
How does Supplier Diversity work within Cargill’s procurement process?
The Supplier Diversity team advocates and supports diverse suppliers from within. Through attending events where small and diverse suppliers and certifying organizations are invited, Supplier Diversity helps identify suppliers and begins developing the relationship in anticipation of future procurement opportunities.
What if I am not a small or diverse supplier?
It is encouraged that you are a certified diverse supplier prior to registering as such; however, if you are a high-quality supplier with well-developed diverse suppliers in your own supply chain, you may also consider registering.
