Commitment to Results Boosts Pig Performance and Quality on Brazil Farm

Through nutrition and technology, Agropecuaria Carboni improved quality of breeding stock and achieved maximum performance for finished pigs.

  • Agropecuaria Carboni raises pigs for pork and breeding stock. Located in Brazil, they have 11,000 sows, 20,000 nursery piglets and 90,000 feed-to-finish pigs.

  • To ensure the high quality of breeding stock and achieve maximum performance for finished pigs, Carboni was seeking a ready-to-use feed to improve animal quality and maximize performance.

  • With a partner equally committed to results, Carboni achieved better weight gain, lower feed conversion rates and higher carcass quality. They credit their success to Neopigg™, as well as the technical service and consulting provided by Cargill.

Alan Brancher, veterinarian and integration systems production manager at Agropecuaria Carboni, explains the results achieved through their partnership with Cargill.

Commitment to Results Boosts Pig Performance and Quality on Brazil Farm

Agropecuaria Carboni is located in Videira, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The farm consists of 11,000 sows as well as 20,000 nursery piglets and 90,000 feed-to-finish pigs in their partnership system. They raise pigs for pork and breeding stock, and seek to obtain excellence in both quantity and quality.

In pursuit of better results, Carboni turned their attention to improving their weight gain and feed conversion rate. They wanted to ensure the high quality of breeding stock and achieve maximum performance for finished pigs. To accomplish this goal, Carboni sought a ready-to-use feed to improve animal quality and maximize performance, which led them to Neopigg™ from Cargill.

When they began a partnership with Cargill five years ago, their first trial was in the finishing phase; this then expanded to the nursery. Today, Cargill products are used in virtually all stages of production, from the feed manufacturing process to market-ready pigs at the finishing stage.

Carboni credits the products, technical structure and consulting provided by Cargill as a key component of their success. Cargill’s feed products use high quality raw ingredients, which better met the nutritional needs of the animals.

Carboni and Cargill share a similar mindset: buy results, not just products. Both partners are fully committed to the final result, not just products sales. And it works.

With the help of Cargill products, there was a significant and positive improvement. Carboni saw better weight gain, lower feed conversion rates and higher carcass quality.

Alan Brancher, veterinarian and integration systems production manager at Agropecuaria Carboni, trusts and believes Cargill is constantly enhancing products and technology for their continued success.

“We were looking to achieve maximum performance for our finished pigs, and saw a positive change in our results,” Brancher said. “We are certainly very happy with this partnership.”
