EUDR
What is the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation?
The European Union’s Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 is a regulation intended to combat the EU’s impact on global deforestation (“EUDR”). EUDR requires companies placing on the EU market cocoa, soy, palm, cattle, wood, coffee and rubber, and certain products derived from these commodities, to conduct extensive diligence across the supply chain to ensure that the commodities and products are deforestation-free and legally produced at origin. Beginning on December 30, 2024, Cargill, as an importer of certain commodities and products into the EU, must be compliant with EUDR and conduct the necessary diligence to prove that the imported commodities and/or products do not originate from recently deforested land or otherwise contribute to forest degradation.
