ISTANBUL, AUGUST 24, 2026 — Cargill has doubled production capacity for its FR3 natural ester dielectric fluid at its Bioindustrial facility in Dilovası, Türkiye. The investment will help Cargill respond to growing customer demand for high-performance transformer fluids that support fire safety, grid resilience and sustainability goals.
Demand for reliable energy infrastructure is increasing as artificial intelligence, data centers, renewable energy and electrification expand worldwide. The International Energy Agency projects that global electricity consumption by data centers will more than double by 2030 to approximately 945 terawatt-hours.
These trends are increasing demand for transformer technologies that can operate reliably in high-load environments. This is particularly important for data centers and other critical infrastructure, including hospitals, airports, metro systems, battery energy storage systems, solar installations and wind farms.
FR3 fluid is a K-class, high-fire-point natural ester dielectric fluid that contains over 99% bio-based content according to ASTM D6866. It's typical fire point of 350–360 °C helps reduce fire risk compared with conventional mineral oil. FR3 fluid can also support greater load flexibility and longer insulation life when used in transformers designed for high-temperature operation.
Investing in Dilovası
Cargill added a new production line at its Dilovası Bioindustrial facility to meet increasing demand from customers in Türkiye and international markets.
The project was completed through close collaboration among Cargill’s engineering, operations and maintenance teams, with zero lost-time incidents. In addition to doubling FR3 fluid production capacity, the investment improves operating efficiency and strengthens Dilovası’s role within Cargill’s global Bioindustrial manufacturing network.

FR3 fluid’s thermal properties help slow the aging of the cellulosic insulation materials used inside transformers. Depending on transformer design and operating conditions, this can provide operators with greater flexibility to manage higher loads or extend equipment life.

Supporting sustainability goals
FR3 fluid is derived from renewable vegetable oils and contains over 99% bio-based content according to ASTM D6866.. It is 100% biodegradable in as little as 10 days per OPPTS 835.3100.
Its performance characteristics can also help customers improve transformer efficiency, extend equipment life and reduce dependence on fossil-based materials. These benefits are increasingly relevant for data centers, renewable energy projects and grid operators working toward their sustainability goals.
The expanded production line at Dilovası was also designed to improve process and energy efficiency at the facility.
