A pioneering history
159 years of expertise
1865: William Wallace Cargill founds the company with one grain warehouse in Iowa, U.S.
1895: The Cargill and MacMillan families come together through the marriage of Edna Cargill and John H. MacMillan.
1910s: CEO John H. MacMillan states our ethical tenet, “Our word is as good as our bond.”
1930s: Our company designs an innovative grain storage facility and river barges. We launch our first safety campaign.
1990s: We commit 2% pretax earnings¹ to support social and environmental impact and strengthen communities
2000s: New products like TRUVIA, Rumba meats, and bioplastics meet evolving consumer preferences.
