Kilned Caramel Malts

Fine-tuning red color and flavor profiles

Kilned caramel malts, sometimes called simply caramel or colored malts, are traditionally used in beer recipes to build red color and mild caramel sweetness. Cargill’s popular caramel malts are made in our circular kiln in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Available colors are 10 (8°-15°), 20 (15°-25°), 30 (25°-35°), 40 (35°-45°), 60 (55°-65°) and 80 (70°-85°). We can also provide kiln processed malts with colors over 85° if desired.

From a light touch of red to a more intense crimson hue, our range of kilned caramel malts gives you the flexibility to create a truly unique, beautiful red beer.
