Cargill Animal Nutrition Names Sarena Lin President of Compound Feed Business

Joe Stone promoted to co-lead Cargill Animal Nutrition, the company’s global compound and premix animal feed business

Minneapolis– Oct. 6, 2014 – Cargill today announced that Sarena Lin has been named president of the the company’s global compound feed business unit. Lin was formerly corporate vice president and head of Strategy and Business Development at Cargill. Lin replaces Joe Stone, who served as president of the compound feed business unit for the last six years and was promoted to become a leader of the Cargill Animal Nutrition platform, which is made up of the company’s compound feed business unit, now led by Lin, and premix business unit, led by David Webster.

“Sarena is the ideal candidate to lead our compound feed business given her global background and multi-cultural perspective, her experience in high-growth and emerging-market environments, and her proven abilities in mergers and acquisitions, strategy and execution,” said Cargill Animal Nutrition Platform Leader Joe Stone. “She has demonstrated strong values as a Cargill leader, a commitment to talent development and passion to identify and develop critical capabilities. These strengths are exactly what we need to accelerate and achieve our ambitious growth strategy. Sarena and David will continue to partner on strengthening Cargill’s animal nutrtion offerings and leveraging the synergies between the two business units.”

Lin joined Cargill in 2011 and has since been an effective leader at the enterprise level, helping to drive Cargill’s strategic agenda across business units and the company’s business development and M&A activity.  She came to Cargill after 13 years at McKinsey & Company where she was most recently a principal specializing in mergers and acquisitions.  She also held roles as co-leader of McKinsey’s China Sourcing Center and managing partner of the Taipei Office. Earlier in her career, she worked as a sales representative at Proctor & Gamble. 

Lin holds an M.B.A. in Strategy and an M.A. in International Relations from Yale University. She received a B.A. in Computer Science from Harvard University.
