ASEAN customer conference uncovers opportunities for growth
From talk to action
February 21, 2016
When it comes to creating ideas and opportunities, sometimes many heads are better than one. This could be clearly seen at the Cargill conference for ASEAN customers, attended by 53 delegates from 32 companies from 11-13 November in Penang, Malaysia.
Inspiring speakers
Across the three days, a number of influential speakers ran sessions on critical industry topics. Subject matter experts from Cargill shared insights on a range of food ingredients including corn, starch, sugar, refined oils and cocoa. External experts and Cargill partner clients also gave talks, including:
- Regional market outlook - JP Morgan
- Consumer trends – Innova
- Sugar outlook – Green Pool commodity specialist
Breakout sessions were held, for more in-depth exploration of key topics. These included sustainability, regulatory issues and ingredient reputation management.
Products with impact

Cargill - including the cocoa & chocolate business in Asia - showcased a wide range of food ingredient products at the event, using the concept ‘A day with Cargill’. For each product, the impact it plays in people’s daily lives was demonstrated – for example, how Gerkens® cocoa powder can be used in the morning milk, or the afternoon snack of popcorn.
