A tale in two videos – spurring success for kids in South Africa

December 15, 2015

South Africa is a place of great natural and cultural diversity. Where else can you find deserts, grasslands, wetlands, mountains, beaches and subtropical forests all within the boundaries of one country? Where else is home to both a leopard and a penguin? And, where else might you hear 11 official languages being spoken?

Cargill has been operating and helping people thrive in the multi-faceted country of South Africa since 1981. These two short videos illustrate just some of the important work the company’s grain and oilseeds supply chain employees are doing in the country – first as a sponsor of two boys studying at Bekker Agricultural School to become a farmer and a veterinarian, and the second as a sponsor of Africa Food for Thought, which focuses on equipping and supplying school feeding programs.

You’re sure to be inspired by hard-working David and Godfrey, who are in their third year of their high school education at Bekker, and by the joyful pre-schoolers being served by Africa Food for Thought. We recognize our colleagues in South Africa for sharing their time, talent and resources to give children a brighter future.
