Cargill Starches & Sweeteners Asia is headquartered in Shanghai, China, and operates in four markets. Through a corn milling joint venture located in Song Yuan, Jilin province of China, we produce native starch, modified starch, dextrose, glucose and spray dried products. Our customers include domestic food companies, as well as multinational accounts.

Through another joint venture in Shanghai, we produce fructose, which is primarily sold to Coca-Cola® bottlers. In addition, a team in Singapore trades within Asia all products manufactured within our business, as well as sweetener products from other Cargill businesses. In April 2006 we acquired a tapioca plant in Thailand. From here we add tapioca starch into the business unit's product portfolio.

In November 2006, we also funded two new plants, currently under construction in Tianjin and Pinghu Zhejiang province, China. From these facilities we will produce high fructose products primarily for cola bottlers in the northern and eastern regions of China.
