Guaranteed tender beef
Many shoppers grade the overall quality of a supermarket on its fresh meat department. To keep shoppers coming back, traditional grocery chains wanted to offer meat that was guaranteed tender and consistently higher in quality than select-graded beef. Thereby differentiating themselves from low-cost commodity retailers. Super markets turned to Cargill for a more consistent beef supply program that would provide “best in class” meat.

By evaluating the entire ranch-to-retail process, Cargill developed 24 critical checkpoints in the quality assurance chain. To market the beef, Cargill created a branded beef program. Through this brand, Cargill delivered more tender beef of a higher quality to retailers.
All customers that have launched the branded beef program have seen an increase in total meat department sales and profits. Research conducted by a major retailer shows that its overall image has been enhanced by the program. Providing companies with better products and programs to meet their business objectives is another way that Cargill works with customers to succeed.
