Scholarships

Each year, Cargill contributes more than $18 million to support a variety of education programs around the world. Included in these programs are three scholarship opportunities for U.S. high-school students. Please read each entry below carefully. 

Cargill Community Scholarship Program 

WHO: High-school seniors living in communities near Cargill operations
WHAT: 350 one-time scholarships of $1,000 and a $200 grant to each recipient’s high-school library
WHEN:

  • Applications are due February 15, 2011. 
  • Recipients will be announced in May 2011.

NOTE: 

  • Application requires the signature of a Cargill or Cargill joint-venture employee from the general community where the student lives. 
  • If you do not know if a Cargill operation is in your greater community, please send your city, state and zip code to cargill@ffa.org
  • The program is administered by National FFA, but students do not need to be members of FFA to be eligible. 
  • Children of Cargill employees are not eligible for this scholarship. 

Cargill Scholarship Program for Sons & Daughters – High-School Juniors 

WHO: Children of U.S. Cargill or Cargill joint-venture employees
WHAT:
10 renewable scholarships of $1,000/year for up to four years ($4,000)
WHEN:
 

  • Students apply in their junior year of high school. 
  • To be considered for this program, students must take the PSAT/NMSQT in October 2010 OR request alternate testing arrangements by March 1, 2011, by contacting National Merit Scholarship Corporation; see the Web link or your high school for more information. 
  • Separate online entry form is due February 15, 2011 (very short). * Recipients will be announced in Spring 2012, the students’ senior year.

NOTE:
For Class of 2011 students who applied last year for this program: You will be contacted by National Merit only if you proceed to the semi-final round; the scholarships will be announced in May 2011. 

Cargill Scholarship Program for Sons & Daughters – High-School Seniors 

WHO: Children of U.S. Cargill or Cargill joint-venture employees
WHAT: 40 one-time scholarships of $3,000
WHEN: 

  • Students apply in their senior year of high school. 
  • Applications are due February 15, 2011. 
  • Supporting documents must be postmarked by February 15, 2011. 
  • Recipients will be announced in May 2011.

Additional Scholarship Information 
  • Children of Cargill employees in the United States may apply to both sons and daughters’ scholarship programs, once as a junior, once as a senior, though a student cannot receive both scholarships. 
  • There are a limited number of undergraduate scholarship programs offered by Cargill businesses that are promoted through selected colleges and universities; check with the school’s financial-aid office. 
  • Cargill does not have any graduate-level scholarship programs. 
  • Children outside of the United States, including employees’ children, may contact Cargill Human Resources in that country to learn if there are local scholarship programs.

  • Cargill employees interested in tuition reimbursement should contact Cargill Human Resources or HR Direct. 
  • Each scholarship is administered by a nonprofit organization. Cargill staff do not evaluate applications or select recipients. 
  • The scholarship programs are each very competitive. Not all applicants will receive a scholarship.
