Assessing palm oil suppliers through a collaboration with WWF

In partnership with Cargill, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) works to define better management practices in the trade and production of key commodities. The organization’s emphasis is on the rehabilitation of degraded palm oil plantations in Indonesia and Papau, New Guinea and sustainable biofuels policy in the European Union. Introducing a floating classroom to teach about life on waterways

In 2011, Living Lands & Waters introduced a floating classroom that will bring students on the river to learn about life on the nation’s waterways. The 150-foot barge gives participants – specifically young people – the tools and experiences to teach others about the need to preserve and protect natural resources. This classroom will bring kids of all ages on board for workshops on a variety of topics related to their studies, using the river as a teaching tool.
