The Sustainability Consortium

The Sustainability Consortium drives scientific research and the development of standards and IT tools, through a collaborative process, to enhance the ability to understand and address the environmental, social, and economic implications of products.

Cargill was a founding partner of the Sustainability Consortium and is currently involved in five different working groups including:

  • Consumer Science, which works to understand the relationship between consumers and sustainable consumer products in terms of communication and consumer practices.
  • Food, Beverage, and Agriculture, which works to improve the environmental, social and economic performance of the food and agricultural chain.
  • IT Standards and Tools, which serves as a resource for Consortium members as they develop, test and implement reporting standards.
  • Measurement Sciences, which establishes methods for characterizing the environmental and social impacts arising from the production of consumer goods.
  • Packaging Work Group, which provides a foundation for fair competition, recognizes innovation, improves data quality and availability and ultimately improves the environmental, social, and economic performance of packaging.
