San Francisco Bay Salt. Community commitment.

Community commitment

Our employees are leaders, members and supporters of a wide array of civic organizations.

Members of the Cargill team sit on the boards and participate in an array of non-profit groups, service clubs and business associations, including the Newark and Redwood City Chambers of Commerce, Ohlone Community College Foundation, the Bay Planning Coalition, and Rotary International. Employees volunteer in the schools, coach youth sports and serve as Scout leaders, and mentors.

To support community involvement activities in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cargill has organized a Cargill Cares Council, a group of employees that coordinates volunteer programs and directs resources to meet community needs. Contributing to an “enriched community” is one of Cargill’s four measures of business performance, which is included in our annual business plan.

Part of being a good citizen is giving your community financial resources, time and talent. At the corporate level, Cargill contributes more than $20 million a year – 2 percent of our global pre-tax earnings – to charities and community causes. Cargill Incorporated has chosen three areas for its philanthropy: ensuring an accessible, nutritious, safe global food supply; innovation in education; and stewardship of natural resources.
