Cargill collaborates with farmers, food makers and industrial customers to bring new ideas to the table.

Flour Fortification Initiative

In 2004, Cargill joined the Flour Fortification Initiative (FFI), a network of private, public, and civic organizations and leaders that work together to promote micro nutrient fortification of flour in large roller mills as standard practice. Cargill has donated more than $1,400,000 to the network with an additional donation of $300,000 in 2011.

This partnership allows Cargill to address health and nutrition issues. Since forming the network, global wheat flour fortification has increased to 30 percent from 18 percent and reaches approximately 550 million people. FFI is now striving to increase global wheat flour fortification to 80 percent by 2015, in line with the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals.
