Cargill collaborates with farmers, food makers and industrial customers to bring new ideas to the table.

World Food Programme

Cargill and the World Food Programme (WFP) have partnered for nearly 10 years to improve nutrition, health and educational opportunities for children in Central America, Africa and Asia.

In our most current effort, Cargill has donated a shipload of rice to fight hunger in the Horn of Africa. Given the urgent crisis in the Horn of Africa, and Cargill’s unique ability to move food to where it is needed, Cargill responded with this donation. One of our goals is to help meet the challenge of ensuring all people have access to safe, nutritious and affordable food.

We are also working to improve food security and nutrition for approximately one million people in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. Our previous commitments have brought food, medication, improved hygiene and drinking water wells to schools serving more than 30,000 children in Indonesia and school feeding and de-worming programs to hundreds of thousands of children in Africa and Central America.

In the last decade, Cargill has contributed more than US $8 million to WFP’s school feeding, water and sanitation, childhood nutrition and emergency relief programs.
