Positive health attributes of Zerose™
> Zero calorie
Zerose™ contributes no calories because it passes through the human body almost unchanged. Unlike other polyols it is absorbed quickly and easily in the small intestine, and not fermented in the large intestine. In the EU, European Directive 2008/100/EC formally recognizes the unique zero-calorie status of Zerose™.
> Well tolerated
Because erythritol is rapidly absorbed from the small intestine and almost eliminated by the body within 24 hours, it is not fermented in the large intestine. This digestive tolerance issues associated with other polyols are unlikely when consuming foods containing Zerose™. In fact, clinical studies have established that Zerose™ is similarly tolerated to other nutritive sweeteners such as lactose.
> No concerns for diabetics
Zerose™ does not raise blood glucose or insulin levels. It serves as a useful sugar alternative for the growing number of people with diabetic and pre-diabetic conditions.

> Toothfriendly
Unlike sucrose, Zerose™ is not fermented by the oral bacteria that cause dental caries. Accordingly, Zerose™ has received “toothfriendly” status from Toothfriendly International.
> Antioxidant properties
Peer-reviewed laboratory studies in animals have shown that erythritol acts as an antioxidant in vivo. Further studies are required to establish such effects in humans.
