Barliv™ barley betafiber properties
Cargill's Barlív™ barley betafiber can be used in food products for both its technically functional properties (such as viscosity building, texture control, and moisture management) and its potential health benefits.
The primary health benefit associated with a diet including barley ß-glucan (and low in saturated fat and cholesterol) is a reduction in the risk of heart disease.
Other potential health benefits that warrant further investigation include:
- maintenance of healthy insulin/glycemic levels
- promotion of satiety that may be a useful tool in weight management
