Cargill Underscores Importance of Open Trade to Global Food Security at Nobel Peace Prize Forum

Nobel Peace Prize Forum. Speaking at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis March 8, Cargill President and Chief Operating Officer Dave MacLennan emphasized the importance of open trade to improving global food security.  “There is no doubt we have the land and technology to produce enough food to feed the estimated 9 billion people on the planet by 2050,” said MacLennan.  “The question is:  will we have the policies and infrastructure in place to ensure the poorest members of society will be able to continue to access that food? We cannot feed 9 billion people without open trade.”

Cargill vice-chairman to speak on food security at upcoming Economist Conference in Geneva 

Feeding the World: The 9 billion question.On Wednesday 8 February, Paul Conway will speak at The Economist Conference in Geneva.  The theme of the conference is “Feeding the World: The 9 billion question” and Paul will join a number of big names form agribusiness, policy, international agencies and the NGO community, including: Graziano da Silva, new FAO Director General, Pascal Lamy,  Director General, WTO; Paul Bulcke, CEO of Nestlé, and Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fishing.

Cargill hosts Food Safety Summit in Toronto.During the week of September 25, some 150 employees dedicated to Cargill’s food safety efforts met near Toronto, Canada, at the eighth Annual Cargill Food Safety Summit. The weeklong event provides an opportunity for food safety experts from around the world to leverage knowledge, share innovations and best practices, kick off new projects, and transform ideas into actions that will help Cargill continue its efforts to improve food safety from the farm to the fork.

Food security presentation "The food on your plate -- what's at stake?". 15 Sep 2011 - Cargill hosts food security seminar in U.K.

On September 15, Cargill hosted a seminar in the United Kingdom entitled “The food on your plate -- what’s at stake?” Over 250 guests attended and heard four presenters tackle the critical issue of volatile food prices and the influences on the entire supply chain – from farm to fork.
