Cargill Supports Wichita Community Through $25,000 Donation to the Lord’s Diner

Wichita, Kan. – As part of its ongoing commitment to enriching the community, Cargill businesses in Wichita are donating $25,000 to the Lord’s Diner, a not-for-profit soup kitchen operated by the community for the community and sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Wichita.

Cargill’s funds will help provide food for evening meals for the 140,000 people the Lord’s Diner serves annually. Meals are served seven days a week, 365 days a year. The funds will be used exclusively to purchase food items for meal preparation. In addition to providing financial support, volunteers from local Cargill businesses’ will serve dinner at the Lord’s Diner, three evenings of every month.

“Thanks to Cargill’s generous gift, we are able to feed those in need, with hot, nutritious meals,” said Wendy Glick, executive director, The Lord’s Diner. “By donating its time and money, Cargill has really found a way to give back to the community in an area that touches many lives,” said Glick.

“Cargill is proud to support the Lord’s Diner,” said Terie Shurtz, member, Cargill Cares Wichita Council. “This contribution represents another way that Cargill strives to nourish people and possibilities in our community,” said Shurtz.
