Cargill Supports Circle of Life Camp

Albany, N.Y. – As part of its ongoing commitment to enriching the community, Cargill is donating $5,000 to the Circle of Life Camp, a not-for-profit resident camp for children and young adults with diabetes. The camp provides the fundamental, age-appropriate diabetes education and social support essential for adolescents to properly manage their diabetes.

Cargill’s funds will help the Circle of Life Camp become part of the Circle of Life Center, which will include the camp and a residential treatment facility for children with diabetes on the same site. The Center would offer year-round programming, as well as a residential treatment facility for children with diabetes. The Circle of Life Center, which will be the only one of its kind in the world, will offer children with diabetes the medical, psychological, and social support they need to manage their disease, cope with it amid the demands of adolescence, and receive assistance to maintain their academic standing in school.

“Thanks to generous gifts like Cargill’s, we are able to help improve the health and quality of life for children and adolescents living with diabetes,” said Edward Vogt, vice president, Circle of Life board. “Cargill has really found a way to give back to the community in an area that touches many lives.”

“Cargill is proud to support the Circle of Life Camp,” said Chris Garcia, plant manager, Cargill Grain and Oilseeds Albany. “This contribution represents another way that Cargill strives to nourish people and possibilities in the community.”
