Cargill features health promoting ingredients at American Dietetic Association’s FNCE Expo 2007
MINNEAPOLIS – Visitors to Cargill’s booths (#1038, #1041, #1046, #1047) at the Food and Nutrition Conference Expo (FNCE, Philadelphia, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2007) will have the opportunity to sample and learn more about an array of the company’s offerings for food and beverage manufacturers seeking to make their products healthier or simply more nutritious. Dietetic professionals will have the opportunity to sample and learn about featured Cargill products including sweeteners, meats, health-promoting ingredients and eggs.
Cargill will sample and showcase a number of finished consumer products that contain its sweeteners, including: new Glucerna® brand cereals and shakes, designed for people on diabetic diets, and featuring Cargill’s Xtend® sucromalt, a natural sweetener that delivers the sweetness of sugar with a lower glycemic response; Accelerade® advanced sports drinks, which include Cargill’s BT-100 system. BT-100 is a proprietary spray-dried combination of trehalose and whey protein isolate designed to improve the functional performance of whey protein in beverage products; Crayons® all natural fruit juice drink, featuring Cargill’s Zerose™ erythritol, a natural sweetener that contains zero sugar, zero calories*, zero aftertaste and zero artificial ingredients; and Friggs® Body Check energy bars with Cargill’s Xtend® isomaltulose, a natural sweetener that delivers the sweetness of sugar with a lower glycemic response.
Cargill will also showcase chili that incorporates its unique IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) "Freefall" Ground Beef, combined with Basic American Food's Quick Start Chili mix. The ground beef is convenient to use and the IQF freezing process locks in freshness and retains moisture, ultimately increasing yield. Also on display will be cooked pot roast, roast beef and the ever popular Honeysuckle White® turkey breast, all high in protein and low in sodium.
Cargill will also feature heart-healthy consumer products containing CoroWise™ Naturally Sourced Cholesterol Reducer™ brand plant sterols. Plant sterols have been clinically shown to lower cholesterol, and products containing CoroWise™ plant sterols, and meeting specific nutritional requirements, may be eligible to carry the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) health claim regarding a reduced risk of heart disease.**
Finally, Cargill will exhibit Sunny Fresh™ brand refrigerated and frozen pasteurized, liquid egg products; hard cooked, peeled eggs; and a variety of precooked egg entrée products, including omelets, French Toast, and breakfast wraps.
*Zero calorie determination is based on scientific studies cited in a petition submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
**Foods containing at least 0.4 g per serving of plant sterols, consumed twice a day with meals for a daily total intake of at least 0.8 g, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease
